| Newberry College - The Mark
Taylor Memorial Scholarship |
|

This $4,000 scholarship was established in
1986 in honor of Thomas Marcellus Taylor (1946 - 1969). Shortly after graduation
from Newberry College, Mark died in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. This
scholarship can be awarded each year to an incoming freshman. The student must have
graduated from one of the accredited high schools in Newberry County (Mid Carolina High,
Newberry High, Newberry Academy, or Whitmire High). |
The recipient must have been
in the top 1/3 of his/her graduating class. The funds will be paid at the rate of
$1,000 per year provided that the student maintains a GPR of 2.0. The total payment
for any one student can not exceed $4,000. The selection is made by the
staff at Newberry College. All applications should be submitted directly to
Newberry College. Transcripts are required before funds are released. |

| In 1990 Taylor Foundation established an
endowment at Piedmont Technical College that is restricted to scholarships for students
who live in Newberry County. Currently four scholarships are available each
year. The selections are made by the staff at Piedmont Technical College. Applicants
should apply directly to the college. Transcripts are required. The
total Fund Balance for these scholarships was $26,190 as of June 30, 2011. |

| In 1998 Taylor Foundation established a
Permanent Endowed Scholarship Fund in The University of South Carolina Business
Partnership Foundation. On 6/30/11 the total fund balance was $131,003. The
annual income only shall be used to award scholarship(s) in number and amount, as income
will allow. The fund shall support undergraduate scholarship(s) in The Moore School
of Business. The recipient(s) shall be students who have graduated from an
accredited Newberry County high school - Mid Carolina High School, Newberry Academy,
Newberry High School, or Whitmire High School. Selection shall be based on academic
excellence, leadership, and community service. No representatives from the Taylor
Foundation shall participate in the selection process. |
| The scholarship(s) may be awarded to any
undergraduate business student and may be renewed annually if the recipient maintains a
3.0 GPA. The minimum scholarship shall be $1,000/year, the maximum not to exceed
tuition for four academic years (eight semesters). The scholarship(s) shall be
awarded on an annual basis. The $100,000 endowment will be funded from 1999 to
2003. Applications for this scholarship can be received from The
Moore School for Business. Transcripts are required. |
