    Taylor Foundation of Newberry, Inc., a small private foundation, was formed in 1985. 

Our primary goal is to strengthen educational and cultural opportunities for the citizens of Newberry County (South Carolina) and to encourage the appreciation of our county's history.  A secondary goal is to meet humanitarian needs in Newberry County.


Since 1987 TF has provided 136 scholarships to Newberry County students.  Scholarships are available at five schools:  Benedict College, Newberry College, Piedmont Technical College, Presbyterian College, and USC Moore Business School.

Through August 31, 2019 total payouts have been $1,445,317.  Based on the value of 5 endowments we can fund up to about $66,000 per year.

In 2018 TF awarded a $64,805 grant to The Newberry Museum to complete the mezzanine inside the historic Taylor Building.  It will become its new home. 

Congratulations to Ms. Bethany Counts, the 2018-2019 Newberry County Teacher of the Year.  The Boundary Street Elementary School teacher was awarded an unrestricted $1,000 teaching grant at the annual reception on October 18, 2018.  She was the 25th teacher to whom we have  awarded this little "thank you" grant.

A grant ($8,000) was awarded  for the restoration of a Civil War cannon recovered from The Governor sunk off the South Carolina coast.  It is on display in the lobby of Newberry City Hall.      More

Over $364,000 in grants  have been awarded to Newberry College for  capital projects ranging from landscaping to the renovation of Keller Hall.


From 2015 to 2018 TF funded the admission cost for 846 Newberry County public school children to visit The Children's Museum of the Upstate
